Volunteering

Enterprize is an organisation run almost entirely by volunteers, and they come from all walks of life, from doctors and mechanics to printers and archaeologists. They all share a common passion for tall ship sailing and for Enterprize in particular, sharing her story with thousands of people across the state every year.

Most of our volunteers serve as deckhands on board the ship, helping to crew Enterprize on all her sails, from public One Hour Sails on weekends to week-long school voyages as well as our trips to Hobart for the Wooden Boat Festival.

There are also many other ways in which volunteers assist Enterprize, from maintenance, office administration, costuming and photography to cooking on transits and voyages, running the Enterprize history classroom for school groups, speaking to the public on shore during day sails, and much more!

Whether your interest is sailing, maintenance or just the sheer romance of tall ships, we’d love to have you on board!

Volunteer Information Nights

If you’re interested in volunteering with Enterprize, we invite you to attend one of our Volunteer Information Nights to see what it’s really like! Feel free to come along, ask questions and decide whether volunteering with Enterprize is for you. We welcome all volunteers aged 16 and over, though parental permission is required for volunteers under the age of 18.

Please submit your contact details through the form below to be contacted about joining our next Information Night.

Volunteer Induction Sessions

After you have attended an Information Night, you will be invited to sign on for a Volunteer Induction Session. The Induction Session has both a theory and a practical component and covers all the basics of safety and sailing on Enterprize that you need to know before you begin signing on to sails as a crew member. Further details about the Induction Session will be available at the Information Night.
